Kanu blames Mr. President for his incarceration

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has again blamed Federal Government for his continued detention even when the Court ordered his release. Kanu, who was arraigned along with two others for alleged treasonable felony and maintaining unlawful society, has been in detention since October 2015.
Kanu’s Lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejeofor, however, said the comments of President Muhammadu Buhari has contributed to the denial of Kanu’s bail by the same court that granted him bail in December 2015.
He said: “After Kanu was granted bail on December 17, the President was heard saying during a Presidential Media Chat that Kanu would not leave the prison cell for any reason.
That bail was made known to the Federal Government on December 18, 2015 but they failed to grant it. Only few days ago, he also tackled the issue of whether or not Mr. Kanu should be granted bail when he visited Katsina.
