The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele said N55.46 billion was disbursed to 24 power firms as electricity market stabilization facility.
Emefiele said this at the 4th tranche disbursement of the facility in Lagos.
He said that three distribution companies got N8.67 billion, 14 generating companies and Nigerian Independent Power Project (NIPP) had N35.83 billion, Service Provider; N459.68million and six gas companies got N10.49 billion.
He said that the disbursement was a major milestone in the effort of the bank, in collaboration with the Federal Government, to further address the challenges of the sector.
According to him the disbursement will also feature the signing of Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) by the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Traders (NBET).
He added that the signing would signal activation of industry contracts for power generation under a contract based market.
The CBN boss said that there were new entrants into the scheme.
Emefiele said that the new entries were the two distribution companies in Benin and Jos.
He added that others included eight generating companies that include two independent power projects by Agip/Okpai and Shell and six NIPP plants at Alaoji, Geregu, Ihovbor, Olorunsogo2, Omotosho2 and Sapele2.
“By the end of today, total disbursements to the Discos will be N49.73 billion representing 91.7 per cent, Gencos with N54.29 billion, representing 62.5per cent.
“Gas companies got N15.73 billion reprsenting 36.9 per cent and service providers N0.46 billion representing 1.7 per cent.
“With today’s event, the total disbursements under the initiative will be N120.2 billion, representing 57 per cent of the total amount earmarked,” Emefiele added.
The Minister of Power, Housing and Works, Mr Babatunde Fashola, said that the government was committed to ensuring that power supply becomes stable.
Fashola said that the government was committed to addressing all the challenges that had been militating against steady power and revenue collection.
He also said another challenge was the issue of over dependence of the participants in the value- chain.
He urged every member in the value chain to contribute to the success of the sector.
The minister said those vandalising the pipelines should stop adding that the government had embarked on a cleaning programme of the affected areas.
He urged consumers to also ensure that they pay for their bills to allow power firms to generate more revenues to ensure better service delivery.
He added that government planned to embark on the construction of more hydro power plants.
Fashola said government would soon come up with a framework that would boost the production of solar energy, reduce cost and increase its usage.

Monarch’s Wife Gives Birth To A Baby In Kidnappers’ Den
Mrs Ubong Assam, the wife of the traditional ruler of Esit Eket in Akwa Ibom, was delivered of a baby girl on Friday, May 13, while in custody of her kidnappers.
A family source, who pleaded anonymity, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Esit Eket, Esit Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom, on Saturday that the monarch’s wife gave birth to the baby in an unknown hideout of her abductors.
NAN recalls that the kidnappers abducted the traditional ruler’s wife and her four children in the Akpautong neighbourhood of Esit Eket on April 29.
The source said that the kidnappers quickly released the woman and her four children due to the birth of the baby in their den.
Reacting to the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in Akwa Ibom, ASP Cordelia Nwawe, said that the command expressed appreciation to God for the safe delivery of the monarch’s wife.
She, nonetheless, said that the command had yet to receive any information about the release of the kidnapped woman and her four children.
NAN, however, reports that the traditional ruler’s wife and her four children were released on May 14.

White women skeptical of Trump in swing states
For Donald Trump to win the White House in November, he’ll need the votes of women like lifelong Republican Wendy Emery.
Yet the 52-year-old from the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio, can’t commit to voting for her party’s presumptive presidential nominee.
“I’m just disappointed, really disappointed,” she said while standing in her arts and crafts shop. She and her circle of friends are “still in shock” over Trump’s success and wonder who’s voting for him, “because we don’t know any of them.”
Emery’s negative impression of Trump was shared by most of the dozens of white, suburban women from politically important states who were interviewed by The Associated Press this spring. Their views are reflected in opinion polls, such as a recent AP-GfK survey that found 70 percent of women have unfavorable opinions of Trump.
Democrat Hillary Clinton’s campaign sees that staggering figure as a tantalizing general election opening.
While white voters continue to abandon the Democratic Party, small gains with white women could help put likely nominee Clinton over the top if the November election is close. Democrats believe these women could open up opportunities for Clinton in North Carolina, where President Barack Obama struggled with white voters in his narrow loss in the state 2012, and even in Georgia, a Republican stronghold that Democrats hope to make competitive.
Patty Funderburg of Charlotte, North Carolina, voted for Republican Mitt Romney in 2012, but says she’s already convinced that Trump won’t get her vote.
“He’s not who I’d want to represent our country,” said Funderburg, a 54-year-old mother of three.
Trump insists he’s “going to do great with women.” He’s accused Clinton of playing the “woman’s card” in her bid to become the first female commander in chief. He’s said he will link her aggressively to past indiscretions with women by her husband, former President Bill Clinton.
The businessman also has previewed an argument focused on national security, with echoes of the pitch that President George W. Bush successfully made to white suburban women during his 2004 re-election.
“Women want, above all else, they want security,” Trump told The Associated Press recently. “They want to have a strong military, they want to have strong borders. They don’t want crime.” He said “Hillary is viewed poorly on that.”
Not so in the AP-GfK poll. About 40 percent of women surveyed said Clinton would be best at protecting the country and handling the threat posed by the Islamic State group, and about 30 percent said Trump.
Throughout the primary, Clinton has talked about policies meant to appeal to women: equal pay for women, expanded child care, paid family and medical leave and more.
A super political action committee backing Clinton has released its first television advertisements featuring Trump’s contentious statements about women.
“Does Donald Trump really speak for you?” the ad asks.
For many of the women interviewed, the answer appears to be no.
“He’s just a jerk,” said Elizabeth Andrus, a registered Republican in Delaware, Ohio, who says she voted twice for Obama. She praised Trump’s political skills and argued his business career indicates an intellect and ability that could benefit the nation.
But his temperament, she said, is somewhere between “buffoonery” and “complete narcissism.”
“It would be like having Putin for president,” she added, referring to Russia’s sometimes belligerent president, Vladimir Putin.
Erin Freedman, a 38-year-old from Reston, Virginia, said Trump “scares the crap out of me.” While she’s an enthusiastic backer of Clinton’s primary rival, Bernie Sanders, she said she’d have no problem backing the former secretary of state against Trump in a general election.
Even some reluctant Trump supporters say they want him to dial back the braggadocio and caustic insults, and engage people more seriously.
“He’s the nominee, so I’ll vote for him,” said Renee Herman, a 45-year-old from Sunbury, Ohio, who preferred retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson and her home-state governor, John Kasich, in the GOP primary field. “But it’s time we get past all this showmanship and hear from him what he actually wants to do and his plans for how to do it.”
Trump’s best opening is that Clinton, who is on the cusp of clinching her party’s nomination, would enter the November race with a majority of Americans taking a dim view of her candidacy. Fifty-five percent have a negative view of Clinton, including 53 percent of women, in the AP-GfK poll.
“Anybody but Hillary,” said Carolyn Owen, a 64-year-old educator from Clayton, North Carolina, near Raleigh. She said Trump wasn’t her first choice, “but it’s better than the alternative.”
While Obama won the support of women overall in his two White House campaigns, white women have increasingly been shifting toward the Republican Party in recent elections. Obama only won 42 percent of white women in 2012. Romney won 56 percent of white women, more than Bush and the party’s 2008 nominee, Sen. John McCain.
Clinton’s hopes will largely hinge on replicating Obama’s coalition of blacks, Hispanics and young people. In both of his elections, Obama earned near-unanimous support from black women, while drawing the votes of roughly 7 in 10 Hispanic women. But she would have more room for error with those groups if she can increase Democrats’ share of white women.
Another potentially favorable scenario for Clinton involves Republican and independent women who can’t stomach a vote for Trump but also don’t want to vote for a Democrat. Maybe they simply stay home, keeping the GOP nominee’s vote totals down.
For Angee Stephens of Indianola, Iowa, that seems to be the only option at this point. She’s wary of Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was secretary of state, which is the subject of an FBI investigation, and her past political decisions. But “Trump sort of scares me,” Stephens said.
In Georgia, Trump supporter Sue Everhart said she talks regularly with suburban Republican women struggling with whether to vote for Trump, and said some cite his boorishness. The former state party chairwoman said she tries to bring the conversation back to Clinton and remind Republicans “who we are running against.”
As for Trump’s penchant for controversial statements about women, Everhart said, “I learned a long time ago that most any man over 50 in this party, they like you as a long as you’re making the cookies.”
“I should probably be offended,” she added. “But I’m not.”

El-rufai Is A Coward ,An Alcoholic- Shehu Sani
Senator Shehu Sanni has described Governor Nasir El-Rufai as an alcoholic and the masquerade behind the call for his expulsion from the APC.
Senator Sanni who has been having a running battle with the governor accused him of being behind the expulsion threat which he likened to “hallucinations of a barely educated ogogoro drinker.”
He said on Friday The press conference and threat of expulsion made by one Tanko Wusono of Kaduna APC against comrade Senator Shehu Sani for objecting to the increase in pump price of petroleum products stands unambiguously condemned. Kaduna APC as it exists today is simply an extension of El-Rufai's government.
On the claims that his criticism of the hike of petrol price constituted an anti party activity and demonstration of hatred for the government of Muhammadu Buhari, Senator Sanni said:
“El-Rufai was never and is still never a Buhari man but a pretender who can kneel down to anyone as long as that can propel him to power.
“The use of APC Kaduna to fight Shehu Sani by El-Rufai is a testimony to how timid and mischievous the governor is. El-Rufai is a man who had abused PMB and only aligned himself with him when Yar'adua and GEJ denied him juicy ministerial positions and recognition he craved.
“El-Rufai is a man who had spent 13 years of the 16 years of PDP in power and now claims false progressive credentials. The heart, the lungs and the “blockos” of El-Rufai are still PDP. He is an arrogant man allergic to criticism. It's shameful that the El-Rufai, who claims to be a Buharist, still can't publicly declare his assets like PMB.
“The threat of expulsion of the distinguished senator by El-Rufai spokesman is nothing but the hallucinations of a barely educated ogogoro drinker. It will be interesting for the general public to know that even the so-called state headquarters of the APC is a building owned by a top PDP chieftain in the state. It will also interest the public to know that 80 percent of Kaduna state APC exco are appointed into El-Rufai government.”
He added: “El-Rufai has simply destroyed APC in Kaduna state. In all states in the north people are decamping from PDP to APC except in Kaduna.
“El-Rufai is a bad and rotten egg in the APC. He knelt down for Atiku to become BPE chair and later betrayed him. He knelt down for Obj to become a minister and later betrayed him. He knelt down for Buhari to be governor of which later he will betray him. Fear El-Rufai whenever he kneels down before you.
“Senator Shehu Sani is one hundred percent a supporter of PMB but he is neither a sycophant nor a hypocrite who will not speak his mind when there is the need to do so.
“El-Rufai is a man who jails journalists and fears challenge to his tyranny.

Why we won't release Fani-Kayode—EFCC
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday said it was detaining Femi Fani-Kayode with a valid remand warrant.
The EFCC also denied that Fani-Kayode had met all his bail conditions.
The EFCC last Thursday moved him from Abuja to Lagos by the anto graft agency.
The Commission was reacting to reports indicating that the former Minister of Aviation was still being detained despite meeting administrative bail conditions by the EFCC.
In a telephone chat with Signal on Friday, spokesperson to the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, denied Fani-Kayode had met any bail conditions. “Which administrative bail conditions did he meet? What I can tell you is that we are holding the man with a valid remand warrant and what that means is that work is still ongoing on his case”, Uwujaren told our reporter.
A statement on Friday by Fani-Kayode's special assistant on media, Jude Ndukwe, disclosed that the EFCC has moved Fani-Kayode, to Lagos for further investigation despite meeting his bail conditions.
Ndukwe said the anti-graft commission did not give any reason for moving Fani-Kayode who has been in their custody since Monday, May 9, 2016.
The Commission had on Friday, May 6, 2016 sent an official invitation letter to Fani-Kayode to explain his role in the presidential campaign funds of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2015 presidential elections.
According to Ndukwe, the EFCC were only trying to punish the former aviation Minister and keep him away from his family.
He said: “They just want to stress him, take him away from his family in order to break him.
“We do not know why he was moved, we just want to believe it is one of the antics of the EFCC to just harass him and keep him away from as many of his relatives and associates as possible.
“I don't even think that there was any need for the transfer, if there was something they wanted to get regarding their investigation, they would have as well done in Abuja,” he said.

French Investigators Say Smoke Reported On EgyptAir Jet Before Crash
An EgyptAir jet sent a series of signals indicating that smoke had been detected on board before it crashed into the Mediterranean on Thursday, France’s air accident investigation agency said on Saturday A spokesman for the BEA agency said the signals did not indicate what caused the smoke or fire on board the plane, which plunged into the sea with 66 people on board as it was heading from Paris to Cairo.
But they offered the first clues as to what unfolded in the moments before the crash.
One aviation source said that a fire on board would likely have generated multiple warning signals, while a sudden explosion may not have generated any though officials stress that no scenario, including explosion, is being ruled out.
Egypt said its navy had found human remains, wreckage and the personal belongings of passengers floating in the Mediterranean about 290 km (180 miles) north of Alexandria.
The army published pictures on Saturday on its official Facebook page of the recovered items, which included blue debris with EgyptAir markings, seat fabric with designs in the airline’s colours, and a yellow lifejacket.
Analysis of the debris and recovery of the black boxes are likely to be key to determining the cause of the crash – the third blow since October to Egypt’s travel industry, still reeling from political unrest following the 2011 uprising that ousted Hosni Mubarak.
A suspected Islamic State bombing brought down a Russian airliner after it took off from Sharm el-Sheikh airport in late October, killing all 224 people on board, and an EgyptAir plane was hijacked in March by a man wearing a fake suicide belt.
The October crash devastated Egyptian tourism, a main source of foreign exchange for a country of 80 million people, and another similar incident would crush hopes of it recovering.

Dutch Police Test Use Of Trained Eagles To Intercept Drones
Dutch police puzzling over how to remove drones that pose a public safety threat are testing a way to get the job done in one swoop, with trained eagles.
The eagles are trained to see drones as pray and are rewarded with a piece of meat after each successful foray.
The eagles are strong and tough enough to seize most consumer grade drones without injury from the blades.
Advertising the feat a start-up company, Guard from Above, said it was a low tech solution to a high tech problem.
The founder and CEO has come to the idea to train and use eagles to intercept unlicensed drones flying into sensitive air space or above a public event such as a politicians appearance. The eagles are trained to see drones as pray and are rewarded with a piece of meat after each successful foray.

Manchester United Win FA Cup With Lingard’s Extra-time Goal
Manchester United on Saturday won its 12th FA Cup title, beating Crystal Palace 2-1 in extra time.
The game marked a rematch of the 1990 final, also won by Manchester United 1-0 in a replay following a 3-3 draw in the first go-around.
The result also leaves Crystal Palace in search of its first major trophy.
Palace thought it had the lead in the 17th minute, but referee Mark Clattenburg whistled for a foul despite Connor Wickham continuing to play on and scoring after getting tackled.
Manchester United’s best chance early came through Marouane Fellaini, who nearly opened the scoring just minutes into the second half, but he hit the corner of the woodwork after receiving a pass from Marcus Rashford.
There are indications that Manchester United, may tab Jose Mourinho as its manager, taking over from Louis van Gaal.
After listing up the title cup, van Gal said: “It’s fantastic to win this title for the club, for the fans and also for me because now I’ve won a cup in four countries and not many managers can say that so I’m happy.
“Of course I was concerned, with 10 players and we’ve played Tuesday evening also but we have deserved it I think. It was a super goal [from Lingard] but we knew that”!
Also reacting to the victory Wayne Rooney said: “It was a great advert for the Premier League. Credit to Crystal Palace, it was a tough game but we hang on in there and a good goal from Jesse – to come from Manchester it must be an incredible feeling for him.
“We’ve had a tough end to the season but I thought we worked very hard today. Our determination has got us through this so we’re delighted. It’s a special moment – it’s a competition I’ve watched growing up as a fan, I’ve lost two finals before so I’ll enjoy this tonight.
“It has been a while [since United last won a trophy] but it’s great for the fans, it’s fantastic. To win a trophy will lift the supporters”.
Jesse Lingard’s fantastic volley in the 110th minute was the decisive goal, after Juan Mata responded to Jason Puncheon’s opener in a late flurry of action in regulation.
With the victory, Manchester United now tie with Arsenal which had also won the title 12 times.

PDP Removes Ali-Modu Sheriff, Sets Up Caretaker Committee
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has removed its National Chairman, Senator Ali-Modu Sheriff, and sets up a caretaker committee.
Other members of the committee are;
Senator Ben Obi – Secretary
Senator Ugbesia – Member
Sen Abdul Ningi – Member
Prince Dayo Adeyeye – Member
Aisha Aliyu – Member
Barrister Usman – Member
After he was removed, Senator Sheriff said “the PDP Convention stands cancelled owing to court injunctions” and called the exercise of Saturday a ‘charade and illegal’.
Crisis With PDP
Crisis within the PDP is believed to have led to the removal of the National Chairman on a day the party had scheduled a National Convention.
At the convention ground in Port Harcourt, party leaders appeared divided over the National Convention.
Senator Sheriff had announced a postponement of the convention but the party’s Vice Chairman of the South-South, Mr Uche Secondus, declared that the convention must go ahead as planned.
Senator Sheriff told a news conference that the decision was based on a court order restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from supervising the planned election in some of the party’s leadership positions.
The PDP Chairman, thereafter asked all the delegates at the venue of the planned convention to go home, as a new date would be communicated to them in due course.
The postponement was due to the outcome of the meeting earlier held on Saturday involving the party’s leadership and serving governors of the party, prior to the planned convention.
In the heat of the controversy, he was removed as chairman, with the caretaker committee set up.
The PDP had on February 16, 2016 appointed Senator Sheriff the party’s new national chairman.
The decision was reached in a meeting of the NEC held at the opposition party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
The decision of the NEC followed the nomination of Senator Sheriff by the National Caucus, a body with membership drawn from the forum of PDP governors, members of the National Assembly, Board of Trustees and National Working Committee of the party.
But his leadership whipped up controversies, with some members of the party faulting the decision of to make him the chairman.
A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the spokesman for the Goodluck Jonathan campaign team in 2015, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode, had after his election insisted that Senator Sheriff was ‘intrinsically linked with Boko Haram‘ and should not head a serious political party.

Niger Delta Avengers blow up Escravos Pipeline again
Suspected members of the Niger Delta Avengers have attacked another oil facility in the Niger Delta, blowing up the Escravos pipeline linking Warri to Lagos. Details of the attack are still sketchy with security officials declining to comment. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Niger Delta Avengers, which has claimed responsibility for recent attacks, has yet to comment on the attack. The group had attacked the pipeline in February. The damage is, however, expected to worsen the country’s energy crisis, with power generation below 2,000 megawatts and oil production down to 1.4 million from 2.2 million barrels per day. The recent attacks on oil installations have also shown the crack among the agitators from the Niger Delta as some former militant leaders have distanced themselves from the latest rounds of destruction in the region. - See more at: http://www.homelandnewsng.com/security/3932-niger-delta-avengers-blow-escravos-pipeline-again#sthash.z6hDBAM8.dpuf
Gov. Dickson Seeks End To Attack On Oil Producing States
The Bayelsa Government has gathered leaders of most communities in the state, saying they are not in support of any militant group and will do their best to ensure they are brought to book.
To strengthen its internal security, Governor Seriake Dickson in two separate meetings with traditional leaders, community development chairmen and heads of all security agencies in the state, mapped out strategies to put an end to the increased spate of insecurity within the state.
In separate meetings with heads of oil companies operating between the territories of the state, the issue of kidnapping was also handled as the governor announced the criminalization of any form of negotiation with these militant who partake in hostage taking and kidnapping.
With a consensus reached that militancy can be conquered from within, participants at the meeting offered advice on tactics to be employed in curbing pipeline vandalism and kidnapping.
The aim of the meeting is to find a way to jointly fight against militancy and keep Bayelsa State safe.
This is in view of the downward slide of the economy due to the dwindling export of crude oil, occasioned by the vandalisation of some pipelines by suspected militants in the Niger Delta.

Arsenal confirm their first major signing
Consistent reports have stated that the Gunners had all but sown up a deal that would take the Swiss international to the Emirates for some time. However, after the BBC reported yesterday that a deal had been agreed pending the formality of a medical, the images above finally put the ‘done deal’ stamp on the Xhaka saga.
It will be interesting to see how the 23-year-old handles the Premier League next season but, based on Wenger’s reaction when recently asked about the proposed deal, we should certainly be excited about the midfielder’s potential.

BREAKING!! China is 'Marinating Dead Bodies and Selling them as meat in Africa? CHINA REACTS!
China has been forced to deny claims that it is marinating dead bodies, canning them and selling them as a meat product in Africa, after a bizarre Facebook hoax went viral.
Rumours of the alleged trade in human meat first began circulating on social media thanks to a series of photographs of what appeared to be skinned people in a meat factory. Zambian press was accused of encouraging the rumours, after publishing articles that quoted alleged sources from inside the Chinese meat factories.
According to the alleged sources, the idea to use human meat came when China ran out of space to dispose of its dead.
Others claimed Beijing preferred to save its 'good meat' for richer, more powerful countries
But China's ambassador to Zambia has issued a furious denial of the allegations.
Today a local tabloid newspaper is openly spreading a rumour, claiming that the Chinese use human meat to make corned beef and sell it to Africa,' said Yang Youming, according to China’s Xinhua news agency.
‘This is completely a malicious slandering and vilification which is absolutely unacceptable to us. We hereby express our utmost anger and the strongest condemnation over such an act.’
He reportedly claimed that the rumours were being circulated by 'people with ulterior motives were attempting to destroy the long-standing partnership between Zambia and China’.

New militant group issues FG 2-week ultimatum
· Demands release of Kanu, Dasuki, and withdrawal of solders from Gbaramatu
Situation in the Niger Delta region may have worsened with the emergence of a new militant group, the Egbesu Mightier Fraternity.
The militant group which appears deadlier than the Niger Delta Avengers, has issued a two-week ultimatum to the Federal Government to address the agitations of all militant groups in the region or it would “totally ground” oil production in Nigeria.
According to a mail sent to The AUTHORITY on Saturday by the group which also claimed responsibility for the bombing of oil and gas pipelines in the region, “Niger Delta Avengers is only a branch for the struggles”.
The release signed by its spokesman, Agbaka Doctor, warned the Federal Government not to underestimate the capabilities of the militants, and threatened to bring Nigeria’s oil production to zero in the event their demands are not heeded within the deadline.
It said, “the silence in the region is a legacy of former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua which should not be thrown away on the altar of vindictiveness”.
Part of the demands by the group include: The immediate withdrawal of soldiers from Gbaramatu kingdom, the immediate and unconditional payment of compensation to victims of Bonga Oil Spill and Chevron gas explosion in Koluama, Bayelsa State, the unconditional release of the detained Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu as well as the immediate release of the detained former National Security Adviser, Dasuki Sambo (rtd).
The group warned President Muhammadu Buhari not to take it for granted as it would completely cripple Nigeria’s economy if its demands were not met.
“The country will be grounded and let us see what the president will use to run the economy and we will accomplish the ultimatum”, it said.
The statement read in part: “We the Egbesu Mightier Fraternity are warning the Federal Government of Nigeria to release the Director of Radio Biafra and the former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd) in the next two weeks without hesitation and unconditionally.
“The Federal Government is also directed to ask the military to leave Gbaramatu within the same period else we are going to shut down every oil and gas activity in the region”.
The group lambasted Buhari for flouting court orders on the release of Kanu and Dasuki, warning that unless the President obeys the orders of the court concerning the duo, “Nigeria will soon be history” as allegedly predicted by the US.
“We are giving the Buhari administration the next two weeks to rescind its decision otherwise Nigeria will be history as predicted by America.
“Nigeria will collapse under the watch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Muhammadu Buhari as we will do everything necessary to actualize the American prediction.
“The continued detention and incarceration of the two accused persons is humanly unjustifiable in the 1999 Constitution and therefore, the rule of law must be respected.
“President Muhammadu Buhari must not constitute himself as a court of law but allow justice to prevail in the country. Within this period, we will halt gas and oil operations in the country until they are released as directed by the courts.
“It is also extremely important to note that the engine room of the national interest is the executive’s obedience to court orders and protection and preservation of the citizens’ constitutional liberties.
“Justification of executive disobedience to court orders as a protection of national interest is abominable. It is also a deliberate ploy to bend the law and suspension of the 1999 constitution.
“The Federal Government’s disobedience to court decisions is one of the dimensions of corruption and seen as gross abuse of office, contrary to section 15 (5) of the 1999 Constitution.
“Does President Muhammadu Buhari have any legal capacity to declare anyone as a criminal instead of the courts? Disobedience to court orders is an act of executive rascality in the country.”
The group also warned against the persecution of former militant leader, Chief Government Ekpemupolo a.k.a Tompolo who has been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged financial scam, absolving him of any blames in the charges slammed against him.
“The Federal Government approached Chief Tompolo for his land to be used as Maritime University and he passionately sold his land to the government based on agreement. What is wrong with that? Is it a cime for someone to sell what belongs to him?
“Tompolo is not responsible for the bombing of oil and gas pipelines in the region and that we are responsible. Niger Delta Avengers is a branch for the struggle.”
EMF warned the Federal Government to tread with caution by ensuring that anything capable of provoking anger in the Niger Delta region is avoided “else every region shall maintain its own resources because the money belongs to the people of the region and not the APC and Buhari government.”
Rescued girl, Serah Luka, not on our list —Chibok parents
Chibok parents refuted the Nigerian Army’s report that the second rescued girl, Serah Luka, was among the 219 kidnapped by Boko Haram on April 14, 2014.
A girl, Amina Ali, believed to be among the Chibok schoolgirls, was announced rescued from the hands of the terrorists on Wednesday.
The army had again said in a statement on Thursday that its troops killed 35 Boko Haram terrorists and recovered several arms and ammunition in the recovery of Luka.
The military statement said, “In addition, they rescued 97 women and children held captives by the Boko Haram terrorists. We are glad to state that among those rescued is a girl believed to be one of the Chibok Government Secondary Schoolgirls that were abducted on April 14, 2014 by the Boko Haram terrorists.
“Her name is Miss Serah Luka, who is number 157 on the list of the abducted school girls. She is believed to be the daughter of Pastor Luka. During debriefing, the girl revealed that she was an SS1 student of the school at the time they were abducted. She further added that she hails from Madagali, Adamawa State.”
However, the head of the Abducted Chibok Girls Parents group, Yakubu Nkeki, told Agence France Presse that unlike the first announcement about Amina, the military had not contacted them beforehand to establish Luka’s identity.
“Only two girls with the surname Luka were on the list of abducted girls and none was from Madagali, in neighbouring Adamawa State, as the military said the second student had claimed,” he added.
The military said Serah was believed to be a pastor’s daughter, but Nkeki said there were only four priests on the list of parents and none was called Luka.
“I can say in my capacity as the head of the Chibok Abducted Girls Parents group that this girl is not among the abducted Chibok girls,” he said.
The head of the BringBackOurGirls campaign group in Abuja, Mrs. Oby Ezekwisili, had expressed joy at Luka’s rescue, but also tweeted, “We have asked for some further verification of her identity.”
Meanwhile, a senior military source, who pleaded anonymity, told AFP that it was “beyond reasonable doubt” that she was among the girls snatched.
He said, “The military personnel who carried out the rescue operation and the civilian vigilantes who assisted them and those who know the girl confirmed that she is among those abducted.
“We can only change our position if the principal of the school or the government of Borno State comes out and refutes this established identity of the girl.”
Meanwhile, the BBOG group said that the return of Luka, whether or not she was among the 219, was a “victory for us all.”
The spokesperson for the group, Sesugh Akume, also commended the efforts of the Nigerian Army, the civilian Joint Task Force and other security forces.

Members of the gang were identified as Kashimu Shehu aka Baliago , the gang Leader; Aliyu Mato, aka, Yellow; Muhammedu Mamman; Hassan Bello; Bala Mohammed and Ishiaku Kabiru. After picking their victims, members of the gang would make them trek for hours in a deep forest off the Abuja-Kaduna Road, before arriving their camp close to Tapher Village Kaduna State. Arase, who was said to have been miffed by the development in Kaduna State then ordered the operatives of his elite Special Intelligence Response Team, IRT, to proceed to the State to track down the hoodlums and put an end to their activities. It was gathered that the operatives, on arriving the state gathered several intelligence from the locals for two weeks before swooping on the suspects. During interrogations, Crime Guard gathered that the suspects confessed to crimes and they also narrated how they kidnapped their victims. Some of their victims were also able to identify the suspects. Suspects’ confessions Aliyu Haruna I am Aliyu Haruna, 30-years-old and I am a Fulani by tribe. I am a famer, I rear cattle and I am also a commercial motorcycle operator. I am married and we are blessed with three children. I have about 10 cows. But on the 24th of April 2016, I was arrested by some policemen from Abuja at a naming ceremony at Gidan Kasimu, in Mai Yahsi Village, in Dutse-Wai Kubua Local Government area of Kaduna State. The naming ceremony was organized by one of our gang leaders, Kasimu Shehu, aka Babajo. I joined the gang of kidnappers some time in April 2016, and we are six members in that gang. The other members are Shehu, Musa, Yakil, Aliu and Bashiru. We have one Ak 47 rifle that is always in the possession of our gang leader Kasimu Shehu. Some time in April, Shehu called me and said I should bring food for them, that they had kidnapped one man Auden in Jangwan village off Kaduna-Abuja Expressway. I saw Shehu with AK 47 rifle in the bush when I went to deliver the food to him. I used my motorcycle to deliver the food to them inside the bush. Shehu promised to pay me N200,000 once the ransom has been paid, but I was given just N1000 when I delivered the food. I know I have committed a crime. One of us, Mohammedu Maman, a cousin to Kasimu Shehu is our gang member, his duty is to guard the hostages in the camp. He was the one who guarded one Nassarawa State indigene in the camp when he was kidnapped. Aliyu Haruna I am Aliyu Haruna, 30 years-old, a Fulani by tribe and a native of Kaduna State. I am married to two wives and I have five children. I had Alamajir Education and I work as a security guard at a satchet water company on Yakowa Way Kaduna State. Sometime in January 2016, my gang kidnapped somebody whom I didn’t know. I was aware they kidnapped someone but I didn’t see the person, it was after the person was released that our gang leader, Shehu called me and gave me N100,000 as my share. On April 14, 2016, I, Shehu, Bello, Musa, Yakub and Bashiru went to Audu Jagwan with one Ak47 rifle to kidnap a staff at the Presidential Villa. We found him praying along the road and we ordered him to follow us at gun point into the bush. I don’t know the person who gave Shehu the information about the man but we got a ransom of N1million before the man was released . I got N200,000 as my share and the only role I played was to escort the man to the camp where he was kept. I am using the gun to protect my cows though I don’t have a license for the gun. The locally made gun is with one Mathew for repair at Tunga Sabo Village, Rigina, Kaduna State”. Victims Narrate ordeal Rev. Yakubu Dzarma “I am Rev,Yakubu Dzarmaý , I am 63-year-old and I am a native Kaduna state. On march 21, 2016, myself, Reverend Emmanuel and Ilia Anto, went to a clear the church site for a seminary school around 4pm and when we were done with the clearing and were about to enter into our vehicles, a Toyota Highlander SUV and a Sienna saloon car, some hoodlums who were all armed with AK47 rifles surrounded us and ordered us to surrender all our valuables including cash . They collected fro me N64,00 cash, my Techno Phone valued at 78,000 and my shoe, valued at N20,000 and they ordered us into the bush and we started trekking. One hour after we’ve trekked a very long distance, one of our pastors Ilia Anto, who was sick told them that he could not go any further and he complained about his health. They started beating him and when they saw that he wasn’t ready to move again, they left him but used his phone to call his last dialed number and gave the person the location where to find pastor Anto and we then continued trekking. 24 hours later we got to their camp. They have four camps within the area. Each camp contains nothing less than ten men all armed with AK47 rifles. The next day they used my cell phone to call my wife and gave her three numbers she should call. They gave us five days to pay the ransom or they would kill us but we stayed with them for nine days before a ransom of N4million was paid to them. They shot indiscriminately into the air while we were all at the camp. We also left four kidnaped women in the camp, one of whom was pregnant. I can confidently identify one of the suspects arrested by the IRT Operatives and his name is Kasimu Shehu. Muhammed Dan Azumi I am Muhammed Dan Azumi, 40-year-old. I am a civil servant and a native of Nasarawa State. On April 14, 2016, around 5:30pm, I was with my wife and one other woman, Hajara , praying at Audu Jangwan and after a while some hoodlums came out of nowhere and surrounded us. They took my wife and asked her to go because she was eight months pregnant. The hoodlums then ordered Hajara and I into the bush, but on our way one of them took Hajara on a bike to the camp. They were six gang members with one Ak47, machete and sticks. They claimed to be Boko Haram and we trekked with them for 18 hours inside the bush before we got to an uncomeplted building that was used as their camp. When we arrived they asked me and Hajara to cooperate with them or they would kill us. They demanded N10million as ransom but after serious negotiation it was reduced to N3million , but they later collected N1 million from my boss before Hajara and I were released after three days in the bush with them. They also collected the sum of N20000 that was with me when I was kidnapped whilebthey inflicted a deep cut injury on my head. When I heard that the hoodlums had been arrested I went to Metro Police Station Kaduna, though it was night but they brought the suspects to me and I was able to identify Haruna Aliyu, aka Yellow “ Meanwhile, the Police Force Public Relation, Olabisi Kolawole, while confirming the arrest said the kidnappers, who had been terrorizing Kaduna and Zaria areas of Kaduna State will soon be arraigned in court. She added that the arrest of the kidnappers was an indication of the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the fight against all forms of crimes and criminality in the country. According to her, ”the IGP while commending the Force Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and other Police operatives involved in the arrest of the suspects for their dedication and professionalism, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang.ý The Inspector-General of Police also appealed to the citizens to support the Nigeria Police Force by providing useful information that could help in unmasking the criminal elements in the country.” 40 0 0 0 YOU MAY LIKE CCT chairman 'rules in favour' of Saraki - Vanguard News PDP govs, Akpabio, others insist party convention holds in Port Harcourt - Vanguard News Herdsmen/Farmers Clashes: Atiku unfolds plans for cattle ranches nationwide - Vanguard News Herdsmen attack: Abia govt revives Bakassi Boys to guard rural communities - Vanguard News 25 Unique Dog Breeds You May Never Come Across FitFluff Only In Australia! - These 17 Things Will Shock You TravelTips4Life Americans Shocked as Iraqi Wins US Lottery theLotter.com Learn To Trade Online In One Hour Per Day Bforex Online Trading by Taboola Sponsored Links TONY CHINONSO View all posts by Tony Chinonso → PREVIOUS POST Nigerian Navy: The Diamond Sail NEXT POST PH Convention: PDP clears Sheriff, Secondus to contest You might also like NACOL Conflict Mgt Seminar: Our security challenges surmountable Veteran actor, Elder Maya down with liver disease How we killed pregnant woman, six Fulani herdsmen in Abuja I'm 'persecuted' because I frustrated Muslim Oil slump: Bring down fuel price immediately, Fashola tells FG Jonathan has performed more than you and others, Presidency tells Obasanjo Buhari’ll reduce petrol to N40/L —David Chibok girls alive; Many impregnated, carrying VVF, other diseases - Escapee Chibok girl reveals Recommended by Disclaimer Comments expressed here do not reflect the opinions of vanguard newspapers or any employee thereof. 6 comments Sign in227 people listening + Follow Share Post comment as... Newest | Oldest BeLovedByGod 29 minutes ago Why did we spent millions organizing the confab that the northerners alone would decide it's implementation ? One Nigeria indeed. The police IG will never say or do anything against the northerners because he is so afraid to lose his job especially as he was appointed by president Jonathan. Remember how he waited for emir of Kano's orders before doing anything about ESE. The girl was kept at the emir's palace. The governors said that those herdsmen killing and rapping everywhere are not Fulanis. The IG said they are foreigners. What a heartless tribe. 99% of oil wells belong to them, 95% of important government appointments belong to them, 95% of looters are from the north. All of the ex-military heads of state and minister stole billions of dollars and hid them in foreign countries. Masters Northerners , Slaves southerners .
