Ijaw youths call for review of oil blocks allocation

Ijaw youths call for review of oil blocks allocation
Ijaw youths under the auspices of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has called for the immediate review of all oil blocks in the Niger Delta, describing as injustice, a situation where no Ijaw man owns an oil-well in Nigeria.
The President of the body, Comrade Udengz Eradiri, who made this call in Yenagoa while addressing journalists as part of the activities marking the Isaac Boro Day celebration, said the manner oil blocks were shared and allocated was to the detriment of Ijaw nation and the oil producing communities.
He called on President Muhammadu Buhari to use the method former President Jonathan used in allocating and privatising the Power plant to also allocate the oil blocks as to make the process open to all Nigerians.
“The oil block allocation did not go through government due-process and so we are calling for a total review of that process with a view to ensuring that it is open to Nigerians. The manner oil blocks were shared was wrong especially against the oil producing communities, and if not addressed, ‘Avengers’ and other groups will continue to spring up.
“Oil blocks must be shared the way and manner former President Jonathan did in the Power plant privatisation where Ibo, Yoruba, Hausa, middle belt and the Ijaws were given equal treatment.
