A Niger Delta Group under the aegies of Ijaw People
Development Initiative, IPDI, today raised the alarm over an alleged plan to
attack critical national assets by some unscrupulous persons opposed to
Ex-militant leader, High Chief Oweizide Government Ekpemupolo Alias Tompolo
with a view to further victimize him as well as the purported transfer of
Gbaramatu Dock Yard to Koko in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta
State.
IPDI raised the alarm in a statement signed and made
available to DAILY POST.
“Our attention has been drawn to an attempt by some
unscrupulous and mischievous elements to attack national asserts in Gbaramatu
kingdom to rope high chief Government Ekpemupolo, aka, Tompolo and the good
people of Gbaramatu Kingdom over their resolve against the purported attempt to
transfer the Okerenkoko Dockyard,” the group said.
IPDI National President, Comrade Austin Ozobo called on
security agents to be on red alert as well as clamp down on the actors to save
the people of Gbaramatu Kingdom including Tompolo from being victimized.
IPDI expressed surprise that its neighbours in conjunction
with internal betrayals could conspire by attempting to bomb oil facilities
just to instigate the government against the peace loving Gbaramatu Ijaw people
to effect the transfer of Okerenkoko Dockyard.
IPDI also warned persons involved in the planned attacks on
oil facilities and the transfer of the dock yard from Gbaramatu to desist from
it, stressing that, “It will be counter productive.”
While urging the masterminders not to take Gbaramatu people
for granted, IPDI vowed that,”We will resist every attempt to transfer our
Dockyard to Koko or else where. We can not be cowed or blindfolded to allow
such men succeed in their evil dream.”
“We want to warn again that attempt to bomb oil facilities
to instigate or incite the government and it security agencies against
Gbaramatu people will not deter us to cede our Dockyard to any tribal
neighbours.”
“Gbaramatu people have been suffering from such unlawful
victimization of things they know nothing about, and would not want to suffer
such pains from law enforcement agents any longer.”
“The security apparatus in the state and the federation
should be informed that Gbaramatu people are not part of such plan attacks of
oil facilities as they will not gain any thing from such actions and should not
be held liable if such incidents occurs.”
