Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has
admitted that he has been left “amazed” by the impact of Alex Iwobi at
Arsenal since breaking into the first team.
The Super Eagles star has earned plenty of new admirers since breaking into the Arsenal first-team this season as Arsene Wenger’s team fight for a top four finish and Champions League qualification.
Iwobi has been a regular starter in the Gunners side in recent weeks, with the 19-year-old having scored two goals and made two assists in 14 games in all competitions for the north London club this season.
And Ozil, who has been getting used to lining up alongside Iwobi in midfield, admits that he has been thoroughly impressed by the Nigeria international’s impact.
“Alex Iwobi has amazed me with the way he’s performed for the first team recently,” Ozil told Arsenal Magazine.
“When I consider his age and that he’s come through at a club like Arsenal, I think he’s on a good path.
“He and other youngsters prove themselves in training, they are good on the ball.”
Both Ozil and Iwobi will be hoping to feature when Arsenal take on Sunderland in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
