Head coach of Chile’s national team, Juan Antonio Pizzi, has
said Alexis Sanchez is going through “a very special situation”, as his
contract stand-off at Arsenal continues.
But Pizzi believes the player is fully focused on La Roja’s
Confederation Cup semi-final clash against Portugal on Wednesday.
Sanchez has one year left on his deal at the Emirates and is
yet to sign a new deal, which is worth more than £275,000-a-week.
Asked about the 28-year-old’s state of mind on Tuesday,
Pizzi responded: “We think he is very happy.
“He is looking forward to playing a new final, he’s giving
his very best like everyone else. He is going through a very special situation.
“Everybody would like to be in a similar situation because
the best clubs in the world would like to have him, although he is already
playing for a great club.
“He’s a very responsible person and he knows exactly what he
has to do. We’ll see what happens but right now, he is very comfortable and
committed to the national team.”
