THE Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) said yes- terday it has completed
verification of assets de- clared by President Mu- hammadu Buhari.
The CCB also said as- sets of the Vice Presi-dent, Prof. Yemi Osin-
bajo; Senate President, Bukola Saraki and other top government officials
in the current dispensation have been verified.
The bureau debunked a newspaper publication which reported that the
verification of assets of Buhari and others were on going as
mischievous,
saying the process had been completed.
It said, the newspaper publication was an at- tempt at undermining ongoing trials before the Code of Conduct Tribunal
In a statement by its Head, Press and Proto- col Unit, Mohammed
Idris, titled: ‘’Re: CCB still verifying Buhari, Osinbajo, Saraki’s,
others’ assets’’ the bureau also expressed delight that ‘’the rate of
compli- ance by public officials in responding to assets declaration has
greatly in- creased under President Muhammadu Buhari’s
administration’’.
However, the bureau appealed to those yet to declare their assets to
visit its corporate head- quarters in Abuja to col- lect, forms, fill
and sub- mit same to the office.
The statement read in part: “The bureau wishes to inform the general
public that it has since concluded the verification of assets declared
by those mentioned in the said publication.
“Therefore, the said publication is another trick to misinform the
public so as to undermine the ongoing trials of cases of false
declaration of assets before the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
“It could be observed that since the inception of the present
administration under President Muhammadu Buhari, the rate of compliance
by public officials in responding to assets declaration has greatly
increased.
Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki is current- ly standing trial by
the Code of Conduct Tribunal on a 16-count charge for alleged false
declara- tion of assets.
He was first charged in September, 2015 for alleged false and anticipatory declaration of assets.
The trial had been ad- journed till May 10, 2016.
