Nigeria are through to the quarter-finals of the men’s
football event at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, after a 1-0 win over Sweden on
Monday morning.
Samson Siasia’s team dominated the match, but could only
convert one of their many chances.
AS Roma forward, Sadiq Umar, scored the winner in the first
half, heading home a cross from Stanley Amuzie.
The Dream Team VI look refreshed in their second game, having
recovered from the travel issues before their opener against Japan, which they
edged 5-4 in Manaus.
Nigeria now have six points and top Group B, ahead of their
last group game against Colombia.
