1. The Founder and General Overseer of Christ Mercyland
Deliverance Ministry, Warri, Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin has said that God
revealed to him that Apostle Johnson Suleman, who is embroiled in stories of
sexual impropriety is innocent. The prophet claimed he had different revelation
about the allegations before they were raised.
2. The nation’s external reserves that have risen by 16.1
per cent since the start of the year, now stands at $30.29bn by March 29, but
are still far off their peak of $64bn it hit in August 2008, the CBN data
showed.
3. The Nigerian army has said a confessed Boko Haram
terrorist belonging to Mamman Nur’s faction of the terrorists’ group, Bulama
Kailani, has surrendered himself to troops of 145 Task Force Battalion, 5
Brigade, at Damasak. This was disclosed in a statement by Director of Army
Public Relations, Brig-Gen Sani Kukasheka Usman. The terrorist was on serial
number 253 on the Nigerian Army’s Wanted Boko Haram terrorists poster.
4. Two men allegedly involved in luring people into a
‘shrine’ and duping them of their hard earned money, have been arrested by the
police in Ogun state. This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer
(PPRO) Zone 2 command, Dolapo Badmus, who said that operatives of the Zonal
Intervention Squad (ZIS), while on routine Patrol along Owode Obafemi Ofada
Road Ogun State on March 27, 2017, at about 10pm, arrested the suspects.
5. A Special Offences Mobile Court in Oshodi, Lagos, on
Saturday remanded 13 students of the University of Lagos in Kirikiri prisons pending
their bail application. The police arraigned the students on a two-count charge
of unlawful invasion and disruption of activities. The accused, standing trial
before Chief Magistrate P.E Nwaka, are alleged to have engaged in unlawful
invasion of TVC Television in Lagos.
6. The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has declared May
30 a work-free day for all supporters of Biafra in commemoration of the Igbos
who had lost their lives in sectarian killings in the country from 1945 to
date. This was contained in a statement signed and issued by the IPOB
Spokesperson, Emma Powerful.
7. The Presidency on Saturday said President Muhammadu
Buhari has appointed Mr. Folorunsho Coker as the new Director-General for
Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation, NTDC. Special Adviser to the
President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, in a statement on Saturday said
the latest statement was made to correct an earlier one which indicated that
Coker was of the NFVCB.
8. The leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force,
Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, has described President Muhammadu Buhari administration
as the worst Nigeria has ever had, calling the president deaf and dumb.
9. The Senator representing Anambra South, Andy Uba,
allegedly forged his secondary school leaving certificate and confirmation of
result dated November 13, 2013, which he presented to British authorities. An
online newspaper obtained a copy of the letter from the West African
Examination Council (WAEC), which was addressed to George Smith of Public Agencies,
located at 57 Peel Road, Wembley Middlesex, HA9 7LY in the United Kingdom.
10. The Federal Ministry of Health has said that deaths
resulting from Meningitis now stand at 328. The Minister of Health, Prof Isaac
Adewole, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday through Mrs
Boade Akinola, the Director, Media and Public Relations of the ministry.
Adewole assured Nigerians that the ministry would curtail the outbreak of
meningitis ravaging some states.
