After
a minor controversy over plans for the burial of late soccer legend and coach,
Stephen Okechukwu Chinedu Keshi, his first daughter, Jennifer, has arrived in
the country from the United States to coordinate the burial plans with members
of the larger Keshi family.
With
the Federal Government through the Sports Ministry and the Nigeria Football
Federation (NFF) showing a lot of interest in the burial plans, family sources
say the only controversy at the moment is whether Keshi should be buried in
Benin City, his adopted home or Illah, his ancestral stead.
“That
will easily be settled,” the source declared. There is also a tentative burial
date of July 28 that has not been totally agreed upon. On Stephen Keshi Jnr., the source declared that he is actually Keshi’s adopted
son and will be accorded all rights due him.
“His
real names we know, but we have no problem with him; he will take part in all
rights due and we pray that we should not drag controversy into the burial of a
great man like Keshi..
